Yesterday afternoon we found this Morning Dove next to the road by our house. The poor thing has a broken wing and we couldn’t just leave it there to die. I didn’t even think, I just scooped him up and if he bit.me oh well. He didn’t bite or stuggle but he trusted me. We will be taking him to a rehabilitation specialist so he can get better. I wish him the best of luck.
Why did I tell you this? Because the hurt Mourning Dove reminded me of the writer community. We may be solitary by nature, but we can’t go it alone. we need others with more experience to help doctor our writing, comb over our words and make sure they all work together like the tail feathers. Every now and then we need added support so we can learn to fly and when we fall instead of giving up we limp over to our fellow writers and can trust that they will help us heal and fly once more.
